Uses Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 disk built on perpendicular recording technology  to deliver new levels of hard drive data density, capacity and reliability

The Seagate 7200.12 disk drive is the very latest model just released, with 32MB internal cache.  It uses 500GB per platter technology enabling the disk to use less power and generate less noise and heat.

This disk has a unique 3-way silent cooling design, see the information below.  You can use this product 24/7 without the disk overheating, and without any annoying disk or fan whine.

Prior to shipping we fully format the disk (as a single NTFS partition) guaranteeing that you can plug in the disk and use it within seconds.  If you want the disk partitioned into multiple drives, or different formats (e.g. for Win98/Me or Mac), then let us know, and we will do it free of charge prior to shipment.

The whole product has a 2 year warranty, that includes everything - the disk enclosure, disk drive and power adaptor.

The actual transfer rate through Firewire & USB 2.0 is limited by the speed of the computer and disk. A typical Windows XP PC has performance figures as shown below:

Product Tour

The disk is designed to sit horizontally or vertically on a stand.  The rubber feet are non-slip and absorb vibration.  When used on the stand both aluminium sides are able to cool the disk.

On the back are the power connector, on/off switch, and firewire and USB2 data connectors.

On the front is a cool blue power LED that flickers to show disk activity.  The front grill allows air to flow to cool the disk drive.

We include a 6-pin to 4-pin lead to connect to the small 4-pin Firewire connectors on laptops, as shown below.
