The disk drives are the very latest LP (Green Low Power) range, saving between 40% and 70% of power compared to standard disks. The disk uses 500GB per platter technology (compared to 250GB or 375GB in older technology) enabling less power and generating less heat and noise.
This product works wonderfully with any PC or Mac. We pre-format for PC (NTFS format) or Mac (HFS+). Please let us know if you are a Mac user when you order, otherwise it will be supplied in PC format.
This is a very high quality product. All aspects of the product are the best quality on the market.
The whole product has a 2 year warranty, that includes everything - the disk enclosure, disk drive and power adaptor.

* The Taurus Super-S LCM is not designed for a single drive and only works when two hard drives are installed. Hard drives of identical capacities are recommended. If the hard drive capacities are different, the total amount of the space that can be used will depend on the drive with the smallest capacity.

RAID Setup
RAID 0 - Striping : Used where speed is the primary objective, RAID Level 0 (also called "striping") is not redundant, and therefore does not technically conform to the definition of a RAID. This form of array splits each piece of data across both of the drives in segments; since data is written without any form of parity data-checking, it allows for the fastest data transfer of all other RAID levels. However, if one drive becomes damaged, the whole array can become corrupted.
RAID 1 - Mirroring : A RAID 1 creates an exact copy (or mirror) of a set of data on the second drive. This is useful when reliability and backup are more important than data capacity. The available capacity to the user will only be as large as a single drive but when one of the hard drives fails, it can be replaced and the data rebuilt automatically.
